JOB DUTIES

  • Counsels students on the application process with a focus on eligibility requirements, needs analysis, process for change due to special circumstances, rights & responsibilities regarding student loans, academic progress requirements, & additional information related to scholarships, NJ State grants, & work-study
  • Awards Federal, NJ State & institutional aid
  • Responds promptly, accurately, & professionally to student & staff inquiries
  • Participates in outreach events & conducts presentations
  • Maintains student confidentially in accordance with FERPA regulations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processes the Department of Education’s Return to Title IV worksheet calculations  & subsequent award adjustments
  • Responds to outreach requests of the Admissions Office & area constituents & conducts weekly financial aid & financial education workshops
  • Ensures student records are accurate & up-to date
  • Performs verification of financial data
  • Conducts process reviews to determine aid eligibility
  • Coordinates FWS payroll
  • Administers & disburses student loans
  • Other duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Title IV & NJ State financial aid regulations & guidelines
  • Knowledge of Federal & NJ State award programs (i.e. Federal Pell Grant, Direct Loans, TAG, FWS, etc.)
  • MS Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills & analytical competency

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • 2-3 years of experience in a financial aid office
  • Demonstrated experience of working with a variety of diverse people
  • Ability to work effectively with a hybrid schedule, some evenings included

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Ellucian Colleague
  • Experience in a financial aid office at a community college
  • NASFAA Professional Credentials
